OUR PHILOSOPHY
Meteora Studios exists to celebrate and foster the finest in American craftsmanship. By creating space to engage thoughtfully with Nature and explore technique, we can help to reinvigorate American craft in ways that are responsible to each other and to the natural world. Through each Meteora enterprise, we work to encourage creativity, promote sustainability, and transform Natureʼs beauty into a lifetime of opportunities for aspiring and master craftspeople.

Empower refugees to become the finest of craftspeople
At Meteora Studios, we strive to celebrate the beauty of Nature in its purest form. Our woodworking studio tells the stories of salvaged trees by transforming their unique histories, grain patterns, color and defects into divinely crafted furniture.

Every day, large trees are taken down due to age, disease or storm damage, or to make way for utilities or development.
At Meteora, we give those trees a second life, as long, wide, thick slabs of sustainable hardwood lumber, which we either transform into divinely crafted furniture or place in the hands of fine craftspeople throughout our region.

We are preparing to register a 501(c)(3) foundation to help UN refugees build new lives as Master craftspeople.
By providing a kind and welcoming environment as well as hands-on training and expertise, we hope to foster both lifetimes of opportunity and the finest in craftsmanship.
We hope to build a model on our 20 acres in Burlington, Kentucky, that will have positive effects throughout our broader communities.
